You could never accuse the founders of "Naked Girls Reading ..." of false advertising. If you attend one of their events, as Asylum did with the recent "Naked Girls Reading Science Fiction" show at New York City's Madame X, you will see naked burlesque performers reading from great works of literature.
Completely nude, save for the odd piece of jewelry, burlesque performers like Nasty Canasta, Miss Tickle and Sapphire Jones regaled the audience with everything from Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" to the children's book "Tomatoes From Mars," which was read by a real-life librarian who was considerably less clothed than usual.
Interestingly enough, performers forewent the usual burlesque cheesecake in favor of some good ol' fashioned geeking out.
Keep reading for more info and of course, pictures of the naked performers.
Host Nasty Canasta shared some factoids about robots (the term was coined in the 1921 play "Rossum's Universal Robots"), discussed Ray Bradbury's stint as a "Star Trek" writer, and paid tribute to visionaries like "Brave New World" author Aldous Huxley.
Sure, there was plenty of skin on display, but the crowd (comprised of both male and female sci-fi buffs) seemed just as interested in hearing hilarious passages from "Hitchhiker's Guide" as they were in ogling unclothed lady business.
"'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' has been my favorite since I was 8 years old," Nasty Canasta shared. "It was actually hard for me not to mouth the words while Ms. Tickle was reading." Performer Madame Renee Rosebud shared her appreciation for "Brave New World" ("I really love a dystopian use of society"), while Sapphire Jones singled out Bradbury's short story "The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit" as a personal favorite.
"Naked Girls Reading" -- which started out in Chicago and now includes satellite shows all over the country -- has already featured nude renditions of banned books and noir mysteries. April's installment in the Big Apple will tackle "Tween Lit," and promises everything from "The Babysitter's Club" to a certain popular sparkly-vampire franchise.
As Nasty Canasta put it: "Naked girls reading 'Twilight.' Take that, Mormons."

WHat will women think of next to get publicity i swear. Well At least put some attractive chicks up there, that one they show in the pic has man tits, or better described NO tits.
Secondly..give me a friggin break, is this really a necessity? Cant these women find real jobs or at least a job involving nudity thats not ..exploiting other peoples creativity? For soem reason I think george lucas and gene roddenberry would be greatly insulted by these incredibly ugly women readin their works, taking credit for it via nudity. WHy dont they just become strippers for crap sake, I mean no one listens to them they just want a free peep show.

While just plain right being mean about the female form is just laughable, I must say you are taking a pretty moronic approach to understanding what these ladies might be doing. Perhaps, assholes like yourself might be drawn in by the nudity, but will find more when the ladies are reading their favorite works. The only difference between this and an intellectual salon is the nudity. The women are honoring the works of Adams, Huxley, Orwell, Bradbury, and the likes. Also, don't know if you have a time machine, but some of the authors are deceased, making it very difficult to contact and ask them if it is alright to read aloud their written word...oh and, get a life.
